OUR STORY

My name is Frankie Lasagna. That's right Frankie Lasagna! With the help of my parents, I opened Terrazza in November 2008, and it has been going well ever since. My story actually began several years ago, when my dad, Phil, decided to open a restaurant. My Dad grew up on Shaw Street and spent the first 25 years of his life in this neighbourhood. Across the street from his home was a property at the corner of Shaw & Harbord, where two of his friends lived. The property included a residential building facing Shaw Street with three apartments, a small commercial space and a three car garage facing Harbord Street.

The opportunity came the year after I was born. You see, my dad also wanted to have his own restaurant and knew that this property would be perfect. In 1986, he bought the property and the process of creating his restaurant began. He built an extension that joined the three car garage to the commercial space.

In 1988, when I was three, he opened LIPS, a fast food restaurant that catered to the local high school crowds. He became well known for serving the Fat Lip, one of the best burgers in the area. Hanging out at the restaurant and then subsequently working at Joso's, a high-end seafood restaurant, I knew that one day I wanted to have a restaurant of my own. After 10 years, my dad moved onto another business and leased out the space. It was home to a couple of other restaurants and then COZ Design.

In 2008, the space became available and my dad gave me the opportunity I had wanted. With the help of COZ Design, he created a beautiful restaurant that I run with my mom. Food and entertaining have always been an integral part of our family life. With that in mind, my goal was to create a warm and inviting space that serves simple, good food. Terrazza is a casual place where neighbours, friends, and family gather to share good times.

We hope you enjoy!
